Tres Pension

Just last week, I decided to have another adventure alone (as usual). This time, it's in Palawan. I booked for a 4D/3N hotel accommodation + tours with Tres Pension (Php 7,500). The tours included are 1) Underground River Tour, 2) Honday Bay Tour, and 3) City Tour. However, the environmental fees are not included in the package but don't worry because it will only cost you less than a hundred for every tour. As far as I remember. I only paid Php 40.00 for the Underground tour while another Php 40.00 for the Honday Bay tour. Not bad, right?

Tres Pension is only 7-10 minutes away from the airport and it is a very quiet place. Just perfect for the "not-so-party-people". As per the website of Tres Pension, it is near the city coliseum, 168 shopping store w/ NCCC market inside, souvenir shops, san jose bus terminal, old and new market and other attractions of the city like Plaza Cuartel, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, etc. By the way, they offer free use of wifi (just ask for the password) and free airport transfer from 7AM-8PM. You just need to inform them of the time of your arrival/departure. Upon arrival, I immediately went to their reception area to pay the full amount (as I was only asked to deposit half of the price) and to get the room keys. Below is the photo of their reception area.

This is where I go everytime I have a request like hot water, extra breakfast, etc. In case there's no one in the area, just ring the bell and they will immediately and gladly attend to your concern. In all fairness to the staff of this pension house, they are all very accommodating and very nice. It feels like home! Each and every staff of Tres Pension never fails to give you their sweetest smile and what I love most is the "chikkahan time" with them. I'll give them 5 stars for the way they treat their guests.

The photo above is the part of their reception area where you can sit and relax while waiting for your room to be ready for occupancy. BUT please take note that you need to remove your slippers, sandals, or shoes upon entering this area (there was actually a sign that you should remove such).  On the other hand, what I love in this pension house is their Japanese style garden (very relaxing view). You can eat in this perfect spot but you need to inform the staff beforehand so that your breakfast will be served here in the morning. Below is a view of their lovely garden.

Before proceeding to the room, let's talk about their breakfast. They offer complimentary (continental) breakfast - 2 toasted bread, butter, jam, coffee, juice and a fruit. Unlike other pension houses and hotels, they serve different fruit, juice and jam everyday. The room I occupied was good for 2 people so the breakfast served is also good for 2. I am not really a fan of continental breakfast so I requested that instead of 2 servings, make it only good for 1 and they actually granted my request. So the photo below is their serving which is for 2 people.

We, Filipinos, love to eat rice for breakfast (right?). So if you are not that happy with the continental breakfast, you can choose from the extra breakfast that the pension house offers. They have a list where you can choose from and during my last day, I tried their Tocilog. Take note that if you want to order extra breakfast, you need to inform them the night before the morning that you want it to be served.

I am very picky when it comes to -silog breakfast but I must say that their Tocilog is a must try! It is not like the other Tocilog that I had before in various hotels. As per my ranking, their Tocilog ranks the 2nd (La Traviesa's Tocilog is still number 1 in my list). The 2nd photo above shows the combination of their complimentary continental breakfast and the extra breakfast that I ordered. Mind you, their extra breakfast is very affordable. The Tocilog is only Php 100.00!

Moreover, I tried their pasta and dessert (I love sweetssssss). I just can't recall the exact price but one thing is for sure, it is not that expensive (it's worth it for sure). What you see in the first photo is not Tofu, it's tuna and I love it! The second one is my favorite in this pension house, it's actually "Turon" (medyo pinaarte lang ang hitsura). I'm not a Vanilla lover but this one made me appreciate Vanilla Ice Cream for the FIRST TIME! This may be too sweet but it will surely make you full (sinful food for the people who are conscious of their diet but there's always a CHEAT DAY, right?).

Now, let's proceed to their rooms. There are 2 kinds of rooms in Tres Pension. They have 6 concrete rooms (modern style), and the 6 remaining rooms which are native style. I chose the native style for a different ambiance. The following photos below shows their native-styled room.

The room may not be that spacious but also not a bad one for a solo adventurer (like me? LOL!). This Standard Room is convertible to Electric Fan (Just tell them if you want to). The rate of the room is Php 1000.00 (already good for 2 persons). It also has this sofa bed but there will be an extra charge (Php 200.00) if you use it. Take note that their check-in time is 1pm and the check-out time is 11am. In case the guest wants to stay, they should pay the extra charge (Php 200.00 per hour). As per the website of Tres Pension, they don't accept children below 5 years old. All their rooms are air-conditioned (though their aircon is the older version. You know what I'm talking about if you're used to aircons with remote control so you can easily adjust the temperature of the room) with a cable TV (but I find the tv too small compared to the hotels I've been) and provide 1 semi double bed only (as shown in the photo above). What I don't like is that they don't have a telephone in the room so if you have a request or you need something, you have to proceed directly in their reception area. I hope that this will be improved when I get back here. Indeed, this room is something new to me.

Every room has their own private bathroom. The only difference is that there's hot and cold water in concrete rooms while there's none in native style rooms. But don't worry, the water is not that cold every morning. The bathroom is not that spacious but it's definitely clean.

Since I am on the side where native styled rooms are, I just want to show the view of the garden in that area. Yes, the modern style rooms has a different garden. But still, the garden in both areas are perfectly fine and pleasing to the eyes.

You can eat in this area or if not, you can just ask the staff to serve your food outside your room (they have a table there where you can eat).

Tres Pension is an ideal place for backpackers and for the people who wanted a peaceful surrounding. It may not be that big or it may not be a 5-star hotel but I assure you that your stay in this place will be worth it. I'll surely visit this place again when I have time. I'll give this hotel 3 out of 5 stars.

If you are interested in staying in this place, you may call or text them for inquiries. Below is a photo of their calling card with the room rates. Again, thank you Tres Pension for making my stay in Palawan very memorable.
